City Farm

  • St James Community Farm is home to 38 animals, providing a unique urban farming experience.

 

  •  The farm offers a safe space for community members to interact with animals, which helps develop empathy, responsibility, and emotional regulation.

 

  • The farm also produces a range of vegetables, eggs, and other food items, contributing to education about food production and sustainable living.

  •  This practical resource benefits school groups and local residents, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.

  • Our volunteers and little helpers are involved in cleaning pens, feeding, petting and general animal care.

Community Hub

  •  The community hub at St James Community Farm is the heart of social interaction and support.

 

  • It combats loneliness and promotes positive mental health by hosting a variety of activities for different groups, including schoolchildren, youth groups, mothers and toddlers, seniors, and those with disabilities.

 

  •  The hub provides a space for regular events such as bingo, seasonal markets, birthday parties and social gatherings, helping to build a supportive and inclusive community network.

Education and Training Centre

Eco Hub

  • The Eco Hub at St James Community Farm is dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability.

  • The farm has a robust recycling program, partnering with local organisations to recycle over 2.5 million cans to date. This initiative not only helps the environment but also generates funds for the farm's operations.

  • The Eco Hub focuses on repurposing waste materials, such as creating pallet furniture and using water butts, to minimize environmental impact and encourage sustainable practices within the community.

Visitor Attraction

  •  St James' Community Farm is a significant visitor attraction, drawing people from various communities.

  • The farm's events and activities attract over 3000 visitors annually, with 150 regular weekly visitors.
